State legislation passed for “top-priority” continuing education bill

Legislators in New York have passed a bill to cut back red tape and stop agents and brokers doubling-up on continuing education courses.

The bill would eliminate the need for duplicate continuing education courses for both their individual and agency insurance licences.

The Professional Insurance Agents of New York State – a trade association representing independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees – has praised “both the state Assembly and state Senate” for passing the “top-priority legislation”.

“As part of a grassroots action, Professional Insurance Agents of New York State (PIANY) members contacted their elected officials to encourage them to pass this important bill at the end of the legislative session,” said PIANY president John C. Parsons II.
